Youth cheer camp begins July 20

Amelia County Parks and Recreation will host a youth Cheerleading Camp from July 20 to 22.

Campers learn the basics of stunting, tumbling, jumps, motions and dance. Visiting high school and collegiate cheerleaders and parks and recreation Cheerleading Commissioner Stephanie Clark will be conducting an exciting camp in a safe and fun environment. Campers will learn cheers and chants onDay 1, tumbling on Day 2, and jumps and combined skills on Day 3 jumps and combined skills.

The camp is for cheerleaders of all skill levels; and no previous cheer experience is necessary.

Minor Cheerleaders, aged 5 to 8, will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. daily; Major Cheerleaders, ages 9 to 13, will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Registration is $15, which includes a t-shirt (no additional purchase necessary).
