Viola Elnora Dickerson of Richmond, and formerly of Amelia, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February. 22, 2023 at Johnston-Willis Hospital.
Viola was the eldest daughter of the late Haywood and Farrenda Dickerson, born June 22, 1930. She attended school in Amelia, where she was born and grew up with her brother and sister, however, she lived the majority of her life in Richmond.
She was baptized at an early age at Union Branch Baptist Church in Amelia and was a faithful member of Faith Landmark Ministries, where she attended for the remainder of her life, as her health permitted.
Viola always remained a child of God. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. She loved her family immensely and took great care of them. She was a truly selfless person who was deeply loved by her family and will never be forgotten. She loved to learn, tend to her garden and keep up with the latest fashions. She was always particular about her appearance.
Viola is survived by her daughter, Gloria Dickerson; her sister, Betty Dickerson; her favorite niece, Yvonne Dickerson- Joyce and many nephews, great-nephews and great great-nieces.
A public viewing is from 1 to 6 p.m. today (Thursday, March 2) at the V.Y. Scott Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, March 3) at Little Union Baptist Church.
