Sylvia Evelyn Patrick


Sylvia Evelyn Patrick, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend was called from labor to reward on October 31, 2022, while in the presence of her loved ones. Sylvia, affectionately known as Syvie, began her journey on July 4, 1945, in Amelia County. She was one of 18 children born to the late Frank and Rosa Patrick.

Syvie was educated at Russell Grove School. At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and joined her family church, Union Branch Baptist Church, where she remained a member, until transitioning to the Branch of Unity Ministries.

In her early adult years, Syvie relocated to Richmond to enter the workforce and was a dedicated employee of Westvaco, until she retired in the early 2000s.

Syvie leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, her son, Gary L. Patrick; grandchildren, Jarell, Demonte, Cecily, and Jamene; great-grandchildren, Dynasty and Montrell; siblings, Janice, Samuel, Sheryl, Daisy, and Brenda; sister-in-law, Diane Patrick. A devoted niece and caregiver: Michaela Booker, devoted great-nephew and caregiver: Javarie Garner; god-daughter, Antoinette “Precious” Archer, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services were held Saturday (Nov. 5) at the Amelia County High School Auditorium with interment following in the Union Branch Baptist Church cemetery.
