Dean Sherwood Lewis


 

 

Dean Sherwood Lewis died unexpectedly Saturday, May 20, 2023 at his home in Nottoway County Virginia. He was 54 years old. His family and friends are deeply saddened by his sudden death.

Dean was an accomplished craftsman. He took pride in his work and many people relied on his expertise. If you wanted something done right, Dean had the knowledge and the ability to make it happen. Dean’s work can be seen in many of the homes in Nottoway County and throughout the state. He held several certifications in the construction industry, and he was a building and code official in Nottoway County.

He had a kind and generous heart and used his time and resources to help others. Dean enjoyed working in his yard and making it beautiful. He loved animals and was especially fond of his chickens. In addition to cooking, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his father, Coleman Webb Lewis and father-in-law, Kenneth O. Bird. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Veronica Ann Bird Lewis; his son, Kaleb James Dean Lewis (Haley); his mother, Barbara Ann Lewis; his sister, Stephanie Curtis (Roger); his brother, Eric Lewis (Leah); mother-in-law, Henrietta H. Moore (Jon); sisters-in-law, Anna Williams (John), Theresa Lewis (Andy); brother-in-law, Michael Bird (Autumn), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday (June 10) at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 18301 Patrick Henry Hwy., Amelia Court House, Va. 23002. The family will receive friends directly following the service at the Crewe Country Club.
